but you can't buy some games without pre packed steam =P

in fact. my buddy literally h-a-t-e-s steam, because at home he doesn't have connection to the internet. he bought 2 games on which he didn't notice that was written that the game requires steam and .. he can't play it. 50 bucks in a garbage bin. just because some f'ags at valve need to register your stupid serial.

so it ended up with me getting pirated drm-free copies of the games for him ..

I think the thing I hate most about Steam is how it installs games in odd places which makes it more difficult than it should be to use mods and updates and stuff for many games. Plus it's worthless middleware that just uses up resources. And it makes it difficult to legitimately trade games with friends or family.

A lot of that blog post's points assume that games won't sell if they're not on Steam. I believe this to be untrue. I personally buy games regardless of whether they are on Steam or not, and I don't know a single person who wouldn't do the same.

My only pain with Steam is that bandwidth is expensive in my country and all the updates and stuff are pretty taxing in that regard, but I can understand why those are necessary.

I personally like Steam, because it means that there are no physical discs to have to move from computer to computer, and I can access my games from anywhere I have the Internet.

Plus, it runs on Linux!

Also, I don't find the location of the game's files odd at all: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\<my Steam username here>

She leant a friend her harcopy of Half-life 2, then she got banned. No reason given, though Lulu did say she never looked into it.

Sorry for the off-topicness, but that sheep is just so damn cute!

So, um, to get back on topic. Steam is evil, cos you have to be connected to it in order to play the games.
