Though I do like old games, I still like the play the newer ones. I recently picked up BF2142 for cheap and I love it. Now I have every single battlefield game

ATI has it as well, but postage to send them in my card would be bigger than any benefit form it. So it will go to put additional strain to environment instead (when it is used).

But just a week or so ago i re-used my previously stashed ATI Rage to replace a dead card. since the PC was used for browsing mostly it was just fine.

i think th ecomputers can play new games (developers make usre of it so they can sell more games). but what they cna't do is play them at max settings. also you need to get some more tinkering to get the best out of the card.

I was dissapointed when i found out that the card i bought last year actually can't run oblivion (it has problem with shadows). so it could only run it on low settings. well after some adjustments i got it to run at medium settings, 1024x768, no shadows. maybe it doesn't look as good as on high or very high, but the game is quite playable and looks nice enough. so who cares...

the one that died is Nvidia something...

the one i used is i think ATI Rage 16 MB :-)

i bought it 9 or 10 years ago. has a cooler on but no fan. i think it's AGP 2x.

It was the age of Half-life and this card was running it good. later on i replaced it with Radeon 9200 because i thought somehting was wrong with the card. in the end it was the motherboard that needed to be replaced.

oh well it will work until it works, after that the whole computer will probably need some major overhaul.

EDIT: the card i was dissapointed with is Radeon9800 XT 256 MB or something like that. If only i payed 20 EUR more i would get a card that would run the oblivion nicely.

You get what you pay for?

Get an 8600gt they are like $49.99-$79.99 USD depending on what company it is. Have one in my older pc and it runs games fine. Or you can get an 8800gt and be able to play other good games too.

yah, well actually this card was advertised as HL2 card, so i thought it would run Oblivion nicely as well. well it does but on medium... I guess next time when i am buying i will take a better look.

this one was actually ment to be cheap computer. still i thought it will be better. but on the other hand i know that i will be able to buy later a much better card and upgrade to Dual core (if AMD is still arround). Problem is because i didn't do enough research. before i used to read a lot of magazines, news and tests. latelly i don't have the time. so i thought 256 MB is the same as any other with 256 MB card. or at least very similar.

bah i never really was a graphics card freak... never had enough money for these things...
