when i try to run the game in dosbox, it says, GAME.000 not found. please press enter. and if i do press enter, it just says the same thing over and over.

why do these things always happen to me?

theres other ways to unpack games?

Sure. For example, you can unpack only a portion of the archive's contents. Or ignore the directory sub-structure stored in the archive (it's a simple option).
Plenty ways to screw up if you don't know what you're doing.
