Did I never notice it or do I just not remember that I have noticed: "X marks this box! Har, har, har!" -> Some of the guys at Microsoft certainly played this game, eh?

I think Monkey Island has also been released on iPhone - I wonder how that works..?

Will have to find someone who's been hoodwinked into buying it. The ScummVM stuff on iPhone works okay. Sometimes the cut-scenes screw up, but that's minor compared to some of the other stuff.

Maybe I can persuade Claire to get it...

I hope that, if they re-vamp Monkey Island II, they give Guybrush his beard back for the episode.
In Curse of Monkey Island, there wasn't really any reference to his beard disappearing.

It wasn't even in the torture-chamber scene on the roller-coaster...
Everyone needs to celebrate a bit of beard every now and then.

I haven't played the first remake yet except for the first scene to check it out, but I just won Monkey Island 2 remake and thought it was excellent. I'd definitely like to see more remakes like this. Sierra game remakes like this would be good, too. Or even games like Kyrandia. The interface is improved for the most part, the graphics are better, of course. At first, I thought the water rippling was overkill, but I got used to it. The graphics were excellent overall. Just a couple scenes where I wish the animation was smoother to match the rest of the game, like the dynamite explosion. Switching between the remake and original graphics makes the original look hideous. I'm sure the stretched resolution and lack of any scalers or other emulation enhancements doesn't help. I hope LucasArts does some more. Meanwhile, Sierra's old classics will probably continue to waste away.

There are some remakes of Sierra games, Kings Quest 1,2 and 3, Space Quest 2 and Quest for Glory 2 have all had remakes made...not by sierra mind you but they have been done.

I know about those remakes. I'm talking about remakes that use the graphic advancements of today to create high resolution 3D graphics and effects, but still maintain the style and spirit of the original. Those Sierra remakes are pretty much remakes of a graphical style that became outdated in the mid-90s. I was impressed with Monkey Island Special Edition's quality, and I think it would be great to see that kind of upgrade for Sierra games as well.
