www.wizards.com/dnd

Coming May 2008.

I wonder what it will be this time?...
More simplifications? Or just more monsters, spells and stuff.

Well we still play AD&D 2nd edition so you know what I think about 3rd and 3rd 1/2 edition. Doubt WotC will do anything better now.

The only thing where 3rd edition did good was computer games.

It's like what GW did with Warhammer 40K - the first to second edition was a drastic change, and second to third not much less either. Then the recent 4th edition turned out to involve little more than a slight tune-up rather than a complete rebuilding of the rules from ground up.

You never know what they're going to change.
They might just as well go back and base the 4th on the 2nd.

I've heard reports that the new Star Wars saga edition roleplay is the framework system they're making 4th Ed from.

Agreed. But 2nd is really bit complicated. After a while head goes round. Or it's just a matter of adaptation?...

Wow Nick, where have you been?

Also why do they need to keep changing it, I hardly see any difference between the playability of Neverwinter Nights and something like Icewind Dale. I think it's unnecessary.

just look at the products that come under the d20 brand and tell me it's not all about money milking.

I really don't know anything about D&D beyond a few games I played, in fact, I think it's pretty pointless to become that entrenched into the game where you hound after these changes, it's in essence very different from other forms of entertainment so it's even stupider.

I just couldn't find a topic to post myself.

Yeah, me too. I myself thought they won't change anything for about 10 years ahead or so. People haven't tasted 3rd ed. well enough yet. I don't remember clearly how long 2ed lasted. But, if old Pool of Radiance was in end of 80s, then at least 10 years.
