Talking

Today a Silverline Courier rang at my doorbell bringing a large cartboard box containing some goodies:
  • AMD Athlon 64 3200+
  • 1024 MB Corsair memory
  • ASUS EAX 700 256 Video Card
  • ASUS A8N-E Mainboard
  • 200 GB SATA Maxtor HD
  • a hefty bill
After some tinkering and sweating I was ready for my first boot. Lo and behold: no errors (I seriously kick behind :P). So now I just started up IE to download Firefox :P) and post my first message from this new sweeeeet setup of mine

Sorry about the bragging bit, but I'm quite satisfied, having been working on a Celeron 1.3 Ghz-machine for 4 years now... I didn't go for a supreme l33t configuration, but still I'm quite content and ready for another year of DOS games

I feel better now. With my second child about to be born and the finances starting to get tied down for awhile..I was mad that I wouldnt be able to build myself a new computer for awhile. But now that I see your new computer is the same as my old one..I feel better :P Cept I have a Radeon 9800XT 256mb..and 2 smaller HD's that about equal yours.. :P

Anyways, I didn't mean that as a "rain on your parade" type thing.

Congrats on the new PC..should be plenty of power for awhile :P

As a student I don't have much money at all :P
I could have spent all my dough on one of those dual-core athlons or on a massive € 400 videocard, but decided to restrain myself. Ik hope AMD sticks to the 939 socket for awhile, so I can do a CPU-upgrade in a year or so

Oh, and good luck with your second. When's it gonna be born?

How much did all that stuff cost you, and from where? I'm quite interested in buying a new PC and that one looks just right.

The whole lot was around € 600,00

I bought if of a Dutch internet-seller: www.cool-prices.nl

I must add that I allready owned a Big Tower Case/400w Power Supply, a NEC DVD-rewriter and also had the dual monitor setup...

I definately wasn't knockin/bashin the computer :P You paid 1/3 prolly of what I paid for mine..so you should be laughing at me :P

As for the baby..she's due on Aug6..but most likely will be born within a week or 2...we hope. My first was 2 weeks early..and the 2nd is usually the same or earlier. We'll see though :P Thanks for the congrats :P
