Was III the last ROTK to be released on PC? I've played IV on the snes and I know VI is only in Japanese (maybe V).
What I'm really getting at is whether any more of them will be released here? I mich prefer a mouse to a SNES controller any day. They're so uncomfortable. |

yup, RTK IV was released for Windows AND PlayStation, as far as I know.
And as I have already mentioned earlier, the Koei's RTK I have is in Chinese and I don't know if it's RTK 5 or 6. It is released for PC (Windows compatible). It is different from RTK 1-4 though. Also involves strategy but mainly adventure, you live Liu Bei's life, sometimes you have several decision to make, but it's KOEI 'from its reKoeition Series' alright. Unfortunately I don't have the original one, the 3.5" disks were damaged long time ago. I only have it on my harddisk with my saved games in it (only 4 or 6 slot, I forgot, ridiculously little right?). I have checked it with KOEI years ago, but it seemed already abandoned. So, tell me Tom, can I upload something like that? |

Use Dos Box. Simply go to to the utilities section and download Dos Box, read the step-by-step guide.
If you are feeling extremly lazy though a handy solution is to download Dosbox and install it (dont forget to make a folder so you know where it is). Then instead of following all the crap about mounting drives etc.... simply drag and drop the KOEI.exe of the game you want to play into the Dosbox.exe It should load up automatically and saved games etc work fine. Works on other games which are dosbox compatible and much easier then trying to mount drives and type in filepaths. EDIT: This might only work on XP Computers, not to sure about any Mac's or Win/98's

Ahhh, this game is friggin hard, even on beginner.
Im using Yui Lun/Liu Yun (sp?), the dude in the lower west of the map, hes got a fair number of officers and lots of nice empty cities nearby for funds, I make alliances with Cao Cao, Liu Biou (sp? the dude in the south) and Dong Zhou. Its on fictional mode so officers appear anywhere. I decide that not fighting is a bit boring so I expand northwards and attack Meng something who just seems to sit in his hovel unless you expand to the city next to his one city territory. Then I slaughter him using my advanced military force and start whooping his behind. Then suddenly out of nowhere Dong Zhou revokes the alliance and starts massacaring my territories, to be fair i did spread myself a lil too thin but his force he sent to attack one city was greater then my overall force and was still better trained then all my troops. And it didnt help when the officers I captured from Meng got bribed away during battles and started attacking me. Then Liu Biou (sp?) starts doing a joint invasion on my main cities, needless to say I was slaughtered by the two prong attack and quickly died. Anyone got any good advice on making a powerful army using my dude, its more easy with Dong Zhou as he has Lu Bu, who kicks behind and can always retreat thanks to his luvly horse (not that he needs to because he does actually kick behind). I just want to try and use a few of the harder chars to see how well I fare. Any advice would be well appreciated.

1) Gather generals. Search for them in unclaimed territories, steal them from other rulers, hire them in your own.
2) Keep their loyalties high. This especially applies to generals with high ratings, who typically tend to receive more offers from your opponents and can entertain their own ambitions. 3) Never leave a skeleton force in any territory unless it is blocked from access to your opponents. 4) Even your allies are your opponents. Treat them well, but watch them closely. |
