Default Hmmm...

Hmmm... indeed. It's pretty mysterious. I wanted to change Nod32 for Avira (better detection rates ). Unfortunately, when I used Avira, my internet connection vanished. The program wouldn't even update. When I uninstalled it, I tried Avast next, and... The same thing happens. Is there something going on? Help appreciated. Thanks. :amused:

Are you directly connected to the internet (internal or external modem) or are you using a gateway (router with modem or router behind a modem)?

@Scatty: COMODO Firewall Pro. It was turned off at that time.

Ok, might be that while you modified the software, Comodo didn't update it's connection settings. Besides, why actually turning off Comodo during AV install?
Try to re-install AV with Comodo on and see if that helps.

There was a version of Comodo which blocked all internet connection instead of monitoring it when some antivirus programmes were on. I am not sure which one that was, but you were suppposed to update it and the new version then worked fine.
