I just reformatted my computer yesterday and got DosBox to run some of my old Dos games on floppy disk. However, for some reason all my games run extremely slowly on it and I can't figure out why.

Play with the cycles with CTRL-F12 (to get faster) and CTRL-F11 (to go slower).

If you just reinstalled DOSBox, the default cycle is 2000 or 3000. It might be too slow for some games.

Heh, you aren't running the games FROM the floppy discs are you? Oh , that was a bit of a joke.

Anyway, when you first open DOSBox, it says 'for more speed, try F-8 and F-12.

Heh, I just noticed all those other DosBox threads a few moments ago. I guess I should have posted there, but then again I'm an attention lady. :P

Anyway I increased the cycles and all the stuff you guys (and the folks in the other threads) suggested. Nothing.

Can you give us the spec of your machine and on which operating system you are trying to run DOSBox?

When increasing cycles, make sure your CPU usage does not reach 100%, as it will slow down again.

What game are you trying to run?

For some reason, it ALWAYS goes up to 100%. So there is the problem.

I'm running the old JIll of the Jungle games and at first the resources are about 75-80% then it shoots up to 100% a few seconds later. I don't understand why it would do that, especially since I'm not running anything else.
