I so envy you if you're really gonna get one of those medals someday.

"someday" might be in a few years time though! (provided they don't go bust, or whatever)

But would you still be able to potentially do ur own kickstarter? A. Yep! But I really, really want to work on WL2, too. Well, 2012 is certainly shaping up to be an interesting year for RPGs... |

This is going to be ridiculously awesome. I hated Bethesda's attempt (FO:NV was okay but it was still crippled by Beth's terrible engine), so it'll be really nice to play a true sequel to FO2. I also loved Dragon Wars and a lot of older stuff he's been involved in, so here's hoping that it'll have a ton of variety and rely on different skills for different outcomes, etc...
The interviews reinforce that, too. EDIT: Quote:
Don't really want to have this argument but Wasteland 2 is probably gonna rule. Last edited by The Joe Man; 31-03-2012 at 06:57 PM. |

"True sequel" to Fallout 2? Pffft. Fallout 3 did fine. Better than fine.

I don't really understand the negativity in this thread. I think fan-sponsored projects is one of the best ideas to happen in a long time. Especially for people like us who don't want all of our games to be shooters with a sprinkling of RTS (with a little RPG flavor thrown in). Big game publishers will not publish old-style RPGs - they just don't make the big bucks. That means it is up to those who loved Wasteland to make Wasteland 2. That's fine because then the publishers won't get their greasy fingers on it and screw it up.
Right now, for a measly $15 you can assure yourself a (download) copy of the game when it comes out. That's quite a bargain. If you go for the $50 pledge (add $15 shipping if you are overseas, sorry), you get the boxed set with printed manual and a map on cloth. That's not a bad deal either. I am in for $50. Oh and to clarify a few points from earlier in this thread: 1) If the pledge goal was not met in 30 days then the project will have failed and no one would have paid a dime. That is not the case since they have already met their goal (and they still have 16 days to go!). Even so, no one will pay a dime till the 30 day time limit is up. That's when they settle up. 2) This is not a sequel to Fallout. This is a sequel to Wasteland. The original Wasteland is available for free download really really close by, if you want to try it out. (The graphics are really old-fashioned, but the game is great!) -edit- I really use the word 'really' too much. Last edited by alcaray3; 02-04-2012 at 01:24 AM. |

Everyone and his dog is starting a Kickstarter nowadays. It'll only take one game that disappoints the funders to have the bubble burst.
I agree with TheChosen on Fargo, but I must say I've been pretty excited about Jane Jensen's Kickstarter just today. She's trying to relive the old days of Sierra, it seems. |

It does seem everyone is trying to get in on this Kickstarter stuff doesn't it. Jane can do whatever she wants, but it wont end up brining back classic Sierra games you would need Al Lowe, the Two Guys from Amdromeda and JIM WALLS to pull that off oh and Ken...Roberta might get a look in if she promises that Phantasmagoria was bad and she won't do it again.
I wont go into the whole Fallout 3 thing, if you don't like it that is fine but as a huge fan of the Fallout games it had to be one of the best things that ever happened. New Vegas is a steaming pile of bugs and it has nothing to do with the engine it has to do with the people at Obsidian not being able to make a game for the life of them. |
