And yes.. the body might well function without a brain.. Many animals don't have a brain.. There is a sea-creatur that when it has found a place to settle, it eats its own brain, and lives on without it...

I know the thing you ar etalking about but that is barely considdered an animal. For the most part it is a intermediate stage between a multi-celled organism and a single-celled organism. Not very rellevant to the story at hand.
P.S. this story is obvious bullshit.
