![]() Some of you surely have games, reviews and the like you'd like to send to Abandonia, and cannot because you have little to no idea what FTP is and how to access the server. This little tutorial will save the pain.
Before you begin, check here to make sure that the files you will upload are correctly prepared. Do not upload anything without approval from an updater or admin. First Connection Step 1. Ask an updater or one of the Admin for the password for server entry. You should receive it shortly. Step 2. Go here and from the list of download mirrors select the one nearest to your geographical position. If the selected mirror does not work, try downloading from another one until you get the install. Save the file on your desktop (or anywhere you put your downloaded files to). Step 3. Launch the install. It is pretty simple, so I will not detail the procedure. Step 4. After you have installed the program, you will have a shortcut to in in your Start menu. Start-****Programs-****Total Commander-****Total Commander 32. Launch it. Step 5. From the toolbar, select the FTP icon. A new window will open. Step 6. There are no configured connections. Click on the "New connection" button. Step 7. Fill in the fields, as follows: Session: The label your connection will have. Anything goes. Host Name: Here write the server URL you have received Username: Fill in the login you got Password: Fill in with the password you have received. Leave the rest of the fields as they are, and click "OK". Step 8. A new connection config will be on the list with the label you set in the previous step. Select it and click "Connect". Some messages will be displayed and an FTP toolbar will appear. One of the file browser panels will display the server content. Step 9. Press F7 to create your directory on the server. In the field that opens type in the login you use on the Abandonia forum and then click "OK" Step 10. You have created your directory on the server. Now it's time to upload the goods there. In the second file browser panel find the place where you have got the files for upload. Step 11. In one of the windows you see the content of your server directory and in the other your files. Right-Click the files to select them and press F5. Click "OK" to begin upload. Step 12. When you are done with the upload click "Disconnect" on the FTP toolbar. This will terminate your connection. Connecting Again Step 1. Click the FTP icon. From the connections list select the conenction to Abandonia's server you have configured before. Step 2. Enter your directory. If all of the data has been moved to the main server it might have been deleted. Should that be the case, refer to the First Connection, Step 9. Step 3. Refer to the First Connection, Steps 10-12. Now, it wasn't really THAT hard, was it?

![]() Hi
Why using a shareware client when we have a Freeware client with way better options and easy to understand functions. I like this because its free of spyware and adware. Note: This client and I think even Total Commander is not good if the FTP Servers force SSL Authorized connections. In this case we must use some commercial FTP clients such as FlashFXP. Editing: And here is an online tutorial of LeechFTP. |

Besides, TC is a worthy file manager in its own right and has several functions (not only FTP) that rank it much higher then the base Windows one. Quote:

![]() The tutorial is very suitable for uploading games to abandonia.
People who have experience don't need it. Total commander is a nice program for newbies to use. I will close this thread to prevent more cluttering.
