So I got about 2 minutes into the game before having an issue. I was told that there was a "picklock" skill--I wanted to use it to get into Bilbo's chest in Bag End to get some money. For some reason it does not appear under the list of skills. Does anyone have an answer as to why this would be? Is it too early in the game to do this or something? I would just skip it but I'm worried I'll need the money later.

If I remember correctly, the 3 hobbits have different skillsets. So just change from Frodo to any other, and see who has the lockpicking skill.

Ok...here we go again I find that when you're entering the East Woods, there is no way to avoid a wolf, even during the day. The walkthrough tells me to leave when I hear one because I'm not ready for it yet, but when I leave and come back and after the second warning, it attacks. It also says that I probably won't be able to leave the woods without being attacked by a wolf, but that if I was I would probably win, and doesn't bother to tell me how to defeat it. What do I do? I tried using the sword and it didn't do anything.

You can't use a sword with the hobbits if I remember right, you have to equip a weapon (hobbits can use a dagger or torch at this point) and then you can attack with it. If you don't have a weapon, then you end out attacking with your hands, but you need to use Attack and not try to Use an item.

You may find some answers here: http://web.comhem.se/fradmo/lrpc/

You can give it something to eat.

Ok thanks! I figured it out now-I just use the torch. Now another dumb question. When I go to Jolly to buy supplies, I switch to Taffy to buy some rations. When I get just within range to speak to Jolly, I'm not close enough to see the supply options when I press "get" (nothing happens). I know I just need to get closer to see the supplies, but when I move the tiniest bit closer, she immediately leaves the fellowship. Has anyone been successful with this trick? If so, what did you do, step by step?
