I believe most of you have heard of UFO2000, which is a multiplayer modification of X-Com: ufo defence. so I was thinking why not make a tournament right here on abandonia? depending on how many people turn up we can either make it with grid or olympic system.
I suggest we use the 0.6.627 version, since it's the one most of you have allready, and there is allways a link to it on the page.
unfortunately we'll have to use thir server (lxnt.info:2000) , because somwhere along the way U2k lost the ability to act as one (it had one back in the 0.4x-es, along with LAN and IPX)
all the game should be deathmatches with standard rules (15000 points, 15 men team limit, level 3 explosives, level 1 exploration, 240 second time limit).

oh, I forgot to mention- we're open for new Ideas, so if you think somethink isn't right (or missing), post about it.

PLAYER LIST:
-a1s
-abi 79
-Duckpatch
-horeseman
-Fawful
-moogle (?)

No it didn't, just use the included ufo2000-srv.exe on the game folder, then put the server's IP on the Login window for multiplayer.

Why not. Will be fun to re-hash old memories while playing in a new way...

By the way, it seems like it would be actually a bit better to use the most recent beta, even just because of the added features:
Quote:
Current beta release is 0.7.911, it implements lots of improvements when compared with current stable 0.6.627. The list of the most important changes is here:
basic support for night missions (Twilight Owl)
the game now can continue interrupted game after broken network connection (Mad Rat)
ELO rating for server statistics (Mad Rat)
saved replays support (Mad Rat)
some items and weapons modding ability (Serge, Twilight Owl)
some very basic unit skins modding ability (Serge)
internationalization support improved, now it is possible to switch languages at runtime using options menu (Twilight Owl)
units visibility calculation performance improved (Tursiops)
real random damages (Gassa)
new explosion animation (Nappes)
new control panel image (Nachtwolf)
flying armor now can fly (Gassa)
weapons balance changes and new weapons (DiversanT, Hobbes)
compatibility with Mac OS X and AMD64 (Serge)
simple geoscape demo, not yet playable (Serge)
JA-style reload: clip inside a weapon and selected clip are swapped after click on the weapon (Twilight Owl)
resizeable truetype fonts support for chat console (Serge)

I already use the beta version. It doesn't crash, but on my computer I haven't got any sound until they will fix that bug. (it's strange that on my mother's computer the sound works with this version)

they change betas as fast as I change socks (well maybe a wee bit slower...), I would really hate if we would all end up with diffrent version.

(sort of) what is it with the new weapon set (I donloaded the beta 26 on monday to try it), wasn't this supposed to be a muliplayer mod for C-COM?
