Default The CD isnt working...or is it something else?

Now that I got my new graphic card, I decided to try a game that has been on a shelf for many months, but because of stupid graphic cards I never hard change to try it: Beyond Good and Evil.

The installation ran fine...until I had to pop in the third cd. For some reason, the cd-drive didnt read the cd. When I double clicked it, its just showed an empty cd.

Is there something wrong with the cd, the game or the drive itself? Im using a basic philips writable cd/dvd drive.

To check your drive: Test numerous other CDs and see if anyone else are empty.

Then check the CD in a different computer. See if it's still empty.

You might even want to check the CD in yet another computer.

If all computers tell you the CD is empty, chances are it's damaged, or (believe it or not) is for a system the computers don't recognize.

If, on the other hand, one (you need only one of them) computer tells you the CD's fine, then it's the other computers that are having issues.

(Dah! How come I never tought about that!)

I checked the cd on this computer. It worked fine, but when I entered the cd, I noticed that the drive was very loud when loading it.

Looks like I need a powerful cd/dvd-drive. Good thing I have extras.

you can always make an image from on the other computer, which reads the cd, and then mounting it in to the virtual drive of the one which don't

Although, Beyond Good & Evil is quite heavily copy-protected, so you might run into trouble because of that... But it might be that it only applies to the playdisc...

I've noticed that Optical drives differ quite a lot when reading damaged discs, especially if you use a drive which already is old and dying it can be a hassle.
