Have both
played more than anyone could ever imagine both
had every single game (a game in my country is 5 $)
And i say :
Go for Ps2 the final fantasy series + koei games (romance of the three kingdoms)
are really worth it if u don't like these titles and prefer sports or simulation
guess what : still ps2 is better coz : ace combat + pro evo

ps2 is more practical its smaller lighter even the controllers are betterly designed
and they even released a smaller lighter version of it

LOL no matter where I go there is a Ps2 vs xbox thread...people make there suggestions on what console is better give there reasons blah blah blah...really its all personal preference I can only tell you about my experiences with both consoles

I have had great experience with both consoles

Xbox and its awsome online play (optimized servers go a long way to making online play FUN)
Ps2 tend to have alot of server trouble,bootings, and more lag then Xbox......

but ps2 has 1 game title that makes me keep it and ALL of its addons (old style ps2)
Socom 2 (those dumbasses made the ps2 thin and did not even get considerate enough to put a hd in it duhhhhhhhh we know whos greedy now)

there are other games that are great that are online some ea sports games (always good).......but really ps2 single player games are better

xbox does not have many titles but what it lacks here it makes up for in fanservice (its more for a mature audience)

anyways I dunno...I cant decide on either so I just bought them both

I had the same dilemma when i was going to get one also...
i know you've allready decided, but anyway

I went for the Xbox.. all day..
First of all, the huge downside with PS2, is only 2 (!!!) controlers.. ffs, most ppl tend to have more then 1 friend........ *duh*

Also, i like the brute force that xbox emits.. it's just.... sooo good

PS2 has much better games, xbox is newer and faster which means it will come to have better games.

Hands down, the PS2. Then get yourself a copy of 'Timesplitters 2', the Grand Theft games, Hitman 2 (not 3) and Ghost Recon (not Recon 2). Then retire. Because you'll need the time.

As an aside, while the PS2 does support on-line game play, there's quite a number of games that are great to play against your mates in the same room. Friend of mine really miproved my gaming life with the invention of a device he calls 'Cardboard™', used here with permission. Basically, selloptape a piece of thick paper down the centre of your telly, then sit at either side of it, and, 'presto', the sensation of link-up play on a single telly.

He's since developed 'Cardboard™2', which straps to the telly and gives the same effect for those games that split vertically across the telly.

Um... This'd work equally well with an X-Box, granted, but the game support for the PS2 is just leagues better.
