Well, none of us would survive without technology, so I have to dissagree with you buddy.
We've made ourselves dependend on technology. We may have to try and find a way to undo that dependancy. That might be more sensible then putting all our effort into trying to expand the lifespan of technology no matter the cost. [/b][/quote]
Nah, more simple enough - let's head back to the stoneage. No way.

No one is willing to discard technology. Would you rather ride a bicycle or drive a car to work?

Civilization is possible without technology. You must know where the limits are.
At any rate we cannot prolong the use of technology indefinatly. The way we are trying to extend the use of it will prove destructive. Besides that we'll be entirely unprepared when technology will have to be discarded.

nuclear power is NOT cheap. that is a total myth. and it is NOT clean either. reactors have to be cooled with a vast amount of water which is then released back into the river/ sea near to the reactor. they say the water is not contaminated. this explains why.
a: communitys that live near reactors always have higher rates of birth defects and cancers.
b: you wave a gieger counter at the river near a reactor it shows a far higher than background level of radiation.

western goverments love having reactors. why? because not only does it generate power it also generates waste that can be processed and used in weopens. the depleted uranaim plant in thorpe , england is a typicall example. with d.u tipped bullets we are gradually poisining the underground water in the middle east. (they get buried and disintigrate, poisining the land)

the bnfl takes billions from the taxpayer evry year. and has been scince the 1950's if we had spent half of that money on research into solar and wind based energys we would live in a far cleaner world.

people who live near a reactor do Not swim in the water.

hiroshima was unfortuante. but it seems to be true that the japaneese would have faught to the death. but then again what nation just surrendered during that war? did we surrender when the nazis tryed to invade? of course we didnt. and we didnt have a belief in a *god emporer* to keep us going either.
its a really hard act to judge tho so long after the event.
what confuses me is i heard from a japaneese anti nuke site that japaneese people are taught a completely different version of the war, in which there war with america was started by america and pearl harbour never happened....

I heard the same thing, education system in Japan does not alow the teaching of what Japan did during WWII such as skinning people alive and then eating them in front of their family and then raping and killing the women.

Even if they could stand the heat, the dead fish sends them away, right?

@ Doubler are you thinking of the matrix or something?

Solar, Wind and Water power can easily support the planet. We have enough rivers for it...
Yeah, I know what Water power has done to alot of places, like egypt, making fishermen lose there jobs.

A freakish idea: They should make 1/4 mile high stilts and cover the entire sahara desert with solar panels

I'd say there'd have to be some truth behind it all or else Japan wouldn't refuse to not teach them about their involvement in the wars.

That would destroy the Fauna of the Sahara Desert. There are always complications behind everything, unfortunately.

not even miles down river man. where i stayed in heidleberg there is a reactor like 30 odd miles downstream. no one swims in the water because of it.

edit: as for the japaneese, i think they were responsible for some atrocities. oddly enuff not so long before ww2 we (british) invented concentration camps in a little nightmare we called the boer war. they dont teach us about that conflict in school.
and pretty much evry american film about the war rewrites history, little by little. then again so does downfall, historical accuracy doesnt make a good movie. it worrys me that they dont teach the japaneese about there first strike though.
