Hello, I'm an ex-LucasArts fan. A 'mojoer' if anyone comes from there is here. Loom is the best game ever. Straight five on any site. Anyway. You can upgrade your copy of Loom from the Underdogs website. Adding speech is optional. The speech pack is 49.7mbs It'll say you need to burn it to a CD, but just run it through ScummVM and it works. Link:
ScummVM website.
Tanks Bobbin !!!!

You just made that lossy day better !
I can play Loom at last !

I can't make my legal version to work.

through dosbox
I do install
it asks me to type the code. I give it, then it says "install succesfull"

loom's manual then say type 'go'.
there it asks the code (again) and exits when I type the proper code

I started the loom.exe installed on my HD, there a have an error message : inster disk one... *

If anyone managed to make this work, i'll gladdly apreciate help.

edit : whoo! I had forgetten who beautiful loom music was. As well as the rest of the game. it's like doing it for the fist time

Loom was the best Graphic Adventure that I've ever played. I still whistle the music...

A fun adventure/puzzle game, I still play it sometimes. One of the games that got me hooked on adventure genre.

Did you try DosBox?
You can download it here.

If you have any problems with it, try having a look at the official FAQ on the DosBox site.
Basic Setup and Installation
Command Line
Z instead of C at the command prompt
Internal Programs (important, especially MOUNT)
Most of the stuff in there is not really needed, but youb would do best to familiarize yourself with the specific topics I linked to.
The mounting of your DosBox games directory, switching the promt to the emulated C: drive and clearing the screen from previous commands can all be executed from the [autoexec] section of dosbox.conf, so you won't have to re-type them every time round.
Frontend programs can help running DosBox with varying configurations for different games.
For both a more accessible user interface and oldschool feel, you can use Norton Commander (get it from our programs and utilities page - scroll down to the bottom to find it). NC might seem awkward at first, but in fact it is a very functional genuine DOS era file manager frontend. It has a plethora of functions that will help you in navigating around the directories, while still retaining the command prompt.

Though all of this might seem complicated, it's very easy once you get used to it. So remember:

DON'T PANIC!!!

The game is ESA, which means you can't download it anymore I'm afraid. Maybe you could find a copy on eBay.
