Whats The Best Os

hi guys got a copy of vmware workstation for my pc but a can't decide what os to use with it to play dos games should i use
A. Windows95c
B.Windows95A
C. Windows98se
also how much ram and hdd space sgould i allocate for it

win 98se would be the most stable, plus it supports usb.

Yep. 98SE is the best choice. Stable and efficient. I'd suggest giving it 96MB or 128MB. The max that 98 can use is 256, but for running DOS games that's way too much.

128 will work, I would put 256 or 512 for new games.

Hard drive, eh, 20GB? Depends on what you want to do with it.

This was the case with regular Win98, but was fixed with Win98SE if I remember correctly. (same as couple other 'limit in the size' things)

Win98SE is a good choice, as its DOS mode is good enough to run any DOS game. There should be a tread around in which I explained how to properly set it up to run DOS games somewhere in this sub-forum.

That's what I also thought originally. But I had 98SE on my machine with 256MB RAM when I first got it. Then I upgraded to 640MB, and there was no difference in how my games ran. Then I bought XP, and suddenly everything ran smoother.
Keep in mind that XP uses up over 200MB of RAM just to keep its own processes running.

Just because you didn't notice anything different doesn't mean that the OS cannot handle (well even) the memory....

98SE handle 512 MBs of RAM just fine.
