I hope it will be good. Cause System Shock was unbelievable for its age.

The best DOS Shooters were

Blood (great, creative level design and definetely the coolest weapons)

Heretic (besides magic wands you also head magic spells; great sound and sound effects)

Hexen (you could choose between different characters, as in heretic you head weapons and spells, and levels were non-linear).

I couldnt choose between them, but each of those beats all the others mentioned in this thread.

PS yes, in the above poll it would be Wolfenstein3D.

Wolfenstien 3d was my first game ever (age 4 or so). I wouldf play it with my dad and we would see how far we could get in the game. Rott was also realy fun, loved the different missles in the game (the furewall and drunken missle were my fav). My other fav was Duke3d, another game me and my dad would play together.

System shock was uberboring for me back when I played it(maybe I would change my opinion now), Duke3D was amusing, ans so was Quake, however I don't like FPS too much(except the WW2 ones)...

I never did play the original system shock, but from the reviews and screens I have read it looks like an interesting game, I remember playing System shock 2 though and that was a fun game, I got to get my hands on it one of these days.

The scaryest thing I can remmember in System Shock was when a robot was coming towards me saying:
"Dont run away."
In a cold way... brrr.
