I am the proud owner of an X-Wing Collector's CD. However, upon completion of the first level (the defection of the corvette and the destruction of the freighters), it takes me right back to the briefing for that mission! Which means I can't get past the first mission in Tour of Duty 1!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know... I didn't move it in any case.

I don't remember well how you select missions in X-Wing... But don't you have to select them manually?

Also, X-Wing is really an unforgiving game. Are you sure you really have completed the mission?

IIRC (check the manual) you can't progress with invulnerability on - disable "cheat options" and see if it helps.

I've wasted a good portion of my life with this game One of the best that came from Lucasarts

I didn't have "invulnerability" turned on--but does "unlimited weapons" prevent you from advancing? Because my brother had left unlimited weapons turned on when I started playing.

Disable all cheats and try yourself. I'm not sure but I'd bet on that being the problem (if you really achieved the mission objectives).
