The first 32 levels of the PC version are the 32 levels from the original version on PCEngine which was the first of such games. Battle Isle is an less complex clone of this, it's interesting to see what they didn't dare to copy into BG1 and was later found in BG2.

Unlike stated in the review the PC version does have some multiplayer maps.

This has to be one of the worst reviews on abandonia.

Plays like a chess? How exactly? At the quick glance it looks like battle isle or panzer general.

The reviewer said he got bored of it - why? Is the game repetetive, unchallenging - or he just doesn't like TBS games?

"Believe it or not, this game requires some planning before you attack the enemy" - most strategy games do, especially turn-based. Did the reviewer even play a strategy game before?

All in all, the only useful thing i got from the review is that the game is a TBS.

anyway: Nectaris fanpage http://nectaris.tg-16.com/intro-nectaris-F...OS-germany.html with lots of info about the game

Hi, can anyone help me, when I try to start Nactaris in DOSbox all I get is:

Quote:
LIM EMS V4.0 detected

71 KB DOS-memory free
2896 KB EMS-memory missing
good bye...[/b]
then it just puts me back into the prompt, while in Windows it works fine.

thanks in advance

try bigger memsize value and/or enable ems in dosbox.conf

The review is very bad, yes.

This game is definitely one of the best TBS games out there. I played it *way* before Battle Isle came out. I hope someone will re-review this game (it looks like the review was thrown together in no more than 5 minutes)

If you like Battle Isle, try Nectaris, I'm sure you'll like it!

It reminded me of Advance Wars series more then panzer general. Actually it looks like it was cloned from Advance Wars rather then battle isles. BI is a bit more complicated but this is rather basic

I am having the same problem Vidi is having. I tried adjusting the memory and nothing happens. I can't find a way to increase the ems, only a way to disable it, then it just complains about not having ems support at all.

I also tried using VDMSound and it does work with that, but the mouse is really slow. I downloaded mouse2kv.exe to help with the problem, but when I batch run it with VDMSound, it then tells me "55 KB DOS-Memory missing." To fix this, I tried disabling the "DPMI Support (DOSX)" checkbox in VDMSound and managed to lower the amount missing so it said this, "21 KB DOS-Memory missing." I tried to disable other options to free up more memory, but I couldn't find any other settings that would help in either Dosbox or VDMSound.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Note: I did notice that the message for Dosbox and VDMSound (with Mouse2kv.exe) differ in that Dosbox's message was about ems memory and VDMSound was about DOS memory. I hope some of this info can help.

I'll see if I could write a new review for it. In all respect, it looks similar enough to Battle Isle for me to like it.
