Default Mouse not working in dos

My mouse works fine in windows 98 but when I try to run my machine in pure dos mode it can't detect the mouse. Can someone help me?

are the drivers loaded?

"LH /L:2 C:\MOUSE\MOUSE"

Above string or similar depending on where your driver is located should appear in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

CTmouse is pretty good, been around for a while now.
http://cutemouse.sourceforge.net/
v1.9.1 is the one you should try.

Otherwise there are more generic mouse drivers, as MS drivers
http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/msdosmouse.html
Generic drivers usually have a bigger footprint than CTmouse.

Another generic driver that works pretty swell and is easy to use:
http://www.powerspec.com/support/dri...smouse_15.html

Etcetera etcetera, most MsDos mouse drivers, whatever, will do , but usually takes more basic mem than CT mouse.

I was going to move this into the archive sub board but I realized this is again on the wrong board. Who moderates Tech?

Thanks anyway. I also found out that my soundcard doesn't work in pure dos either. Its not even detected when I install a game in pure dos. I guess thats what I get when I have a young Tech install Windows 98. All these new techs know XP on up.

Your SC also needs DOS drivers to work properly. It's kind of much worse than with the mice.

Everything need to be loaded up in your autoexec.bat and config.sys files in pure dos to be in resident memory. Else DOS will simply not even know it have to use this, that and what not.

Here is a thread which can help you a lot to understand what is going on in pure DOS boot up.
