Default OpenXcom

Hello,

I want to introduce you new project, called OpenXcom. If anyone of you know OpenTTD, it's similar to it. Basically it's open source implementation of original x-com engine. In other words, it's new executable which must be used with original x-com game. What are the advantages of such project?

Unlimited

To name a few:
- ports to new platforms (amiga, android and symbian is in progress)
- bugfixes
- removing of limits of original game
- balance changes
- translation to other languages
- interface improvements
- higher resolutions
- new units, new weapons, new ships, new everything

Of course everything needs to be programmed. But thanks to open source code, everything will be possible for someone who knows C++.

Now project concentrates on reimplementing original gameplay and features. After 1.0 version, probably new features will be implemented.

Head for more information to main site: http://openxcom.ninex.info/

Always the same wrong good ideas.

If those "improvements" and "balance changes" turns out something like UFO2000 then I am certainly not interested...

Read the about...
openxcom is an exact re-implementation of the original.
No additional features and certainly no game balancing changes are done.
Bugfixes only if they are obvious bugs.
The fact other people can mod it, is entirely optional.

UFO2000 is a multiplayer battlescape, with a totally different goal than openxcom.

Could someone please move the OpenXcom posts to a dedicated thread in Favorites?

What did you mean by those balance changes then?

Guests can't post inside FoN, he couldn't answer you anymore without registering.

But registering is free... And this thread is long enough without having to navigate through pages belonging to a different game. I'd prefer everything in its place.

Hello Abandonia, Long time no see.

Openxcom version 0.4 has officially been released, if you head on over to the site you will see progress on the remake is coming along very nicely .
http://openxcom.org/

Also some of the openxcom fans have been working on some Mods ( New Map Blocks, New Weapons, ETC ) that for anyone NOT interested in a pure VANILLA xcom experience can download and add into there games, check that site out also.
http://openxcommods.weebly.com/index.html

Please note: Other Modders are always welcome on both site so if you have a few Custom maps that you created a few years back , why not dig them out and share them with the community.
