I don't see why, Rise of the Triad always looked like a very cheap game to me. It also came along by the end of the "old FPS" trend without any game personality which would perk it up more than another which made me think of it as yet another Doom clone.
Duke Nukem 3D, on the other hand, is something else. The game is not graphically perfect (not that it bother me at all anyways) but the story and the theme is what the game is all about. Much like UFO in a way. And at least in that FPS you could frigging jump more than 5 centimeter above the ground and if timed right jump over ennemy fire such as RPG ammo which actually gave jump an utility! k: |

Well to be honest I have only ever play RotT, Duke Nukem 3D and Dark Forces. RotT was my favourite as it was the only we had that wasn't a demo.
EDIT We also had Wolfenstein 3D, but I never really liked that one. |

What about Terminator:Future Shock??? :eeeeeh:
It was revolutionary game, becouse it was first fps that used mouse for looking/aiming and keyboard for moving. And you could drive a jeep,a hovercraft... It was quite good and important one. |

System Shock definately wins the "best" category even though I love every game listed.
It definately has the best played story from the list. Sure the graphics weren't the best but but everything about it is fantastic. I'd still have to say that it's by far my favorite FPS series (coupled with the original Deus Ex and I'm one happy puppy). Warren Specter simply put creates the best FPSes. |
