but i must say my god "band" has got to be TOOL

when it comes to rap i guess Jay-Z fits the bill (not all the new mainstream bull tho...like me and my girlfriend and the crap with linkin park....god i hate that band...sorry)

Tool didn't break up did they? In any case APC was Maynard's side project befroe that, and I happen to prefer them - Thirteenth Step is an incredible album. They're not eactly "more mainstream" just a bit different.

Videos are good (check out their new DVD, aMotion) but not a patch on Tool ones. I have Salival (the video collection / rare and live tracks) on DVD (a collector's item apparently :P) with videos for sober, prison sex, stinkfist and aenema on there, and they are amazing.

It's just the singer Maynard from Tool.

Tool didn't break up. APC is just Maynard's side project (which actually steals more time from him than Tool does currently), which I'm very fond of, and I find "mainstream" not suitable for what they're doing. It's a somewhat different style, more concerned about the finishing and producing, but I never knew perfection was called mainstream? Basically they're doing the same RATM and Soundgarden did, bringing a more alternative style into their music.
