i just dug the hole to the place under the dais , (where brink dies) an i cant seem to know what to do i dont want the answer but merely a hint. The combination of shapes on the purple rod doesnt seem to work on any door, is it something to do with the combinations on the door?

The combination on the purple engraved rod does work for one of the doors. Every rod in the game opens a door. You've probably just got one of the shapes wrong by mistake (that happened to me several times, in fact). Or maybe you've been arranging the shapes the wrong way round.

Bernie - im talkin about the game " the dig" by lucas arts

A.J. - i tried the code on the rod normal way round and back to front on every door.. do i have to use the rod on something afterwards (if it is dont tell me what) or does the door open as soon as you get the code, or does it open when you get the code an look away from the pannel? or are the shapes on the rod in a jumbled order an you have to try those shapes in different combination to the combination on the rod?

You just need to enter the right combination, and then you'll see a short cutscene (if you can call it that) and one of the doors will open. You should enter the code from left to right as you see it on the rod. Are you quite sure you're not mixing up the diamond shape and the cube or the hexagon and the ball shape? It's easier than you might think.

He might have a rod that only works on the currently broken door...

I played the demo of this game YEARS ago when i was just a kid. It looked cool but I could never get much of anywhere. In general, I liked Full Throttle better of the two Lucasarts "serious" adventures. Monkey Island owns both, though.

Oh, yes, I forgot. The purple rod is the first one you find. You need to turn the power on before the combination works.
