There I am, having the solution. The whole internet says that it is impossible, and I have the solution. But this guy isn't coming back... In case you remember your thread and return, please attach the CONQUER.INI of the directory your CONQUER.BAT is in to your answer. I thought you had a urgent problem, and now I'm waiting since three days.

...would be the most reliable way because of your individual configuration, but normally it should be enough to change the following lines:

Code:
SOUND_NAME=Sound Blaster 16
SOUND_DEVICE=0xe000
SOUND_PORT=220
SOUND_DMA=1
SOUND_IRQ=7
MIDI_NAME=MIDI_OPL3
MIDI_DEVICE=0xa009
MIDI_PORT=220
...or enter the values (without the ones for the *_DEVICEs) via the CONFIG.BAT, but don't forget to delete the question marks!

EDIT - Managed to get the game running by using the 1st cd rom drive that was having trouble reading the disk. The problem now is that the cursor graphic seems to get stuck on screen and certain Selections in the game are staying highlighted. Any ideas on how to fix it or a general-guaranteed-install-n-play-with-no-problems-on-WinXP method?

Hope this message gets a reply.

~Original Post:

Hi I'm having some trouble with this game too, my problems different though.

When I run the game through WinXP, I get the following error:

"ERROR: CD ROM Access Failure General CD failure!"

DoxBox gets: "Not enough memory to load GOB or file not found."

I checked some of the games files and saw that certain paths in the file point to the correct drive. The cd is definitely there and it read it since an autoplay popped up.

Did you mount the root directory of the CD drive?

Did you execute the INSTALL.BAT?

No to either, couldn't try it out before because the disc drive wasn't reading the disc again.

How do I mount the root directory of the CD drive? Like Deamon tools?
