I'm sick and tired of this. Whenever it pleases, I get a message of Ddhelp crashing. After that, I can't do anything full-screen anymore or my comp locks up and the graphics mess up. Anybody know how to solve this? Got DirectX8.1, as I don't want 9.0 after it forced me to reformat, it being unable to be downgraded and disabling my soundcard's drivers (yet that was on an older comp)

I sounds to me like thats exactly whats wrong though. Your Direct X Drivers are maybe corrupted combined with them being outdated...unless you are using a really old card, I would definately suggest updating them. Give windows update a try. If it says you are in need of the drtivers, then the suggested course of action is to get them

i would just look at the manufacturers website.
i would never trust microsoft update when it comes to hardware drivers. (as they disable opengl in it for example (as it a concurrent of directX)) to find out more information try aida32 or so concurrent = competitor here edited by The Picard

That was on my old comp, that it disabled some of my hardware drivers. They didn't have some certificate or something. Even when I got drivers for them with that certificate, it refused to get things to work. It's just a risk I won't take on this one. I've used the drivers that came with my hardware, and that should be enough.

Seems more like it's something with Java. Whenever I close something that's used it, it gives me that crash message.

Java is evil anyways. I don't even have it enabled on my IE.

I need to code in it for school, so evil or not, got to work in it. Besides, Javascript does it too, but less hard, and each forum has Javascript for smilies, I believe (I know my guestbook used a few javascript lines for buttons)
