That does explain things. DPLAY.DLL was dropped from DirectX 10.
Perhaps try installing an older version of DirectX - it shouldn't overwrite the files you already have, but add the ones you are missing.

Make sure the directory is not set to Read Only, as aren't any files within it.
Also that you have full read/write/modify permissions for that directory and its contents.

Thank you for your reply.
But where can I find the saved files in my computer? Which directory they are in?
Also I want to ask why every time I saved my game, the newest saved file will overwrite the old one, even they are 2 different games, and I also tried to rename the file, it does not help too.

What I meant is that I opened 2 new games, with different president name, but the second new game will overwrite the first when I saved the second one.

Does the game allow you to choose the name of the save file when saving your progress? If not, then it's probably a deliberate move by designers.

You can have as many savegames as you want. You can even choose where you want to keep the savegame files. By default they will be saved in the game directory. The files are called TRTxx.SV1 (replace xx with 00, 01, 02 etc.)

EDIT: noelying, have you
imported the registry settings?

And you also need to reboot for the registery changes to take effect.

With the coming of the newer OSes, it is easy to keep a computer running on the same session for days or even weeks if you simply use the hibernation option.

The original file is "Noles Transport 15th Apr 1982", but after I save the new game "Noles Transport 16th Apr 1982", "Noles Transport 15th Apr 1982" disappear and is replaced by the new one.

Also, my saving directory is different from yours, there are many saved files in the game initially, only "Noles Transport" is mine. And in the picture you can see that the game said unable to read drive. What is this problem??

Where have you installed the game? TTD has some issues with long directory names. Try re-installing the game to a different folder (e.g. c:\games\TTD).
