Cool

First off, thanks for a great find. I love seeing those old games with 2-4 colors :Brain:

The link to the manual walkthrough seems to be run together, it points to

http://kerner.dtdns.net/content/extras/Sha...Walkthrough.rtf

& i think it was meant to be

http://kerner.dtdns.net/content/extras/Sha...rdor_Manual.zip
http://kerner.dtdns.net/content/extras/Sha...Walkthrough.rtf

& I just want to say thanks again for preserving so many of my childhood memories

Well I'm not sure what happened with the Walkthrough. I'm sure we didn't add a manual and as for the Walkthrough I wrote it myself.
But we are running into difficoulties with the extras for all the games, so I can't fix it at the moment.
Actually the only really tricky part of the game is how to cross the swamp on the logs (for the rest of the game you can figure it out yourself k:

And a comment on other LotR games... Well the older ones are based either on the bokk or the epic cartoon (now that was an enjoyable LotR to watch). But still so far I haven't really seen a game that would be based upon the LotR and would meet the expectations. I guess the main reason really is the overstated glory of Tolkien's work (although I must admit the book Sillmarilion is excelent).

From the Review:
Quote:
the dreaded Shelob, the spider who ate the light back in the days before people came to the middle Earth.
This is not entirely correct, as Shelob is in fact (not even 'in fact': it might be...) one of Ungoliaths decendents. A breed between Ungoliath and the spiders of Nan Dungortheb.

Ungoliath herself seems to have dissappeared, in the Silmarillion it is said she may have eaten herself.

(Maybe a bit , but I couldn't let this pass. Sorry)

Wasn't Shelob just another name for Ungoliath?
It's a while ago since I read the Silmariollion *goes to the celler to check*

Apparantly not. I could be wrong, mind you, but I found that it was quite clearly said in either The Silmarillion or in LotR that Shelob could be (! - they're not even sure whether it wasn't just your regular, mutated, overgrown, malign spider,ha!) descendend from Ungoliath, but in no way Ungoliath herself, who, as the Silmarillion states, dissappeared.

And anyway, it would be a bit strange if the great Ungoliath of whom even Melkor was scared, could be scared away by a Hobbit, even with elvish gear, don't you think?

No, you'll need to click on the flags at the top of the page to view the translations. Actually there's several typos in that review (one of the funnier ones being "meat" for "meet").
