I've scanned and cleaned my PC with Ad aware and Spybot S&D, both programs detected lots of spyware that my mother somehow picked up(in a day!) on the net, and I've deleted it, but one problem has persisted. Firefox starts by itself and shows an ad like this:
There was lots of more spyware that was clogging up my PC (all picked up at a single web session!), but I managed to clean up everything except that, can anyone help me with some other software that might help, Ad Aware and Spybot combo was almost always enough for me.

My old PC did that for ages after Norton expired and I couldn't afford the new version. I solved the problem by formatting the entire HD. By the way, I'd personally suggest you ditch Kazaa, which I see there, lurking on your desktop like the evil ba***rd that it is.

First of all i dont' see Zone alarm installed <_< Zone alarm can point you (sometimes) to where the malicious programme is hiding. Secondly do you have SP2? Thirdly to solve your problem you could try and do some search in your temp folder. Also do the search in windows & windows system folder for strange programes. the problems with these kind of thing is that they are actually hidden under some other name and when you delete them with ad aware or spybot (which is quite old isnt' it?), they simply create a new file when they are deleted. i once had a similar stuf and when it i deleted one file another one was created instantly. they often have some strange names that dont' make much sense. be carefull not to delete any system files.

anyways, i had same problem and searching for just simple malitious files doesnt help, it got stucked to system file what i did was, that i got this and this thingy=) with filemon shows you what exactly s going on in your OS including all the activity of processes, what runs the processes, what dlls are used.. etc etc. that program can exactly tell what happened and what services were yoused when you, for example, open new window in explorer. then i used process explorer to get details about those processes and was able to fix the problem

I had the ZA pro version and it did more bad than good, I have Kerio Personal Firewall now I found a solution of the problem after googling for quite some time, and trying out numerous applications. I found a small file combofix.exe and it found the problem, it was some look2me spyware. Thanks for helping anyway, yeah process explorer helps me sometimes, but this was a normal process infected with spyware (winlogon.exe). Some dll files were infected somewhere in the system32 folder.

Tulac's right. ZA is crap. For a decent firewall/anti virus you need to cough up some cash and buy one like Norton.

I'd never buy Norton, that's the worse thing you could do to your PC. Norton take over like everything on your computer and you can't even uninstall it if you wish to.
I have ZA installed on my computer since I have it, and I never got a problem with it. I just don't understand what you guys could possibly find bad on ZA. |

Well I had the ZA suite which also included their antivirus/anti-spam etc. It was really somewhat like you described that Norton is(except the uninstall part that is). Anyways Kerio is much lighter on my system and has all the functions that ZA has.

Well, I don't know for you guys but I'm using ZA 4.5 and it's only a simple firewall... Nothing more.
