Okay. So I have this copy of Arcanum, bought as a certain computer games mag's cover CD.

Now... on the box there is all the crap about "you must install our patch or ther game won't run". I checked, and found out it was true... then, as "their patch" was not the latest (1070, latest is 1074), I patched up to the newest version and "wrong disc inserted". In short, my reaction can be described as "WT*?"

Well, it came out that "their patch" also installed a NoCD crack and after applying appropriate NoCD everything worked again. This is quite suspicious in itself, by the way...

However, now I'm playing second time over and that I've heard of No-Level-Cap fixes, I've searched for them and cannot find one working with the No-CD treated version of the game. If anyone of you knows where I could get such a thing, please contact me via PM.

I am not able to buy a different version anywhere, since all the stores around that had copies of the game ran out of them just about the same time the issue of the aforementioned mag with the game appeared, and certain local laws prevent me from setting up a bank account and a credit card (to buy it at an online store), since I am under 18 (now, that won't be an issue in a little more then 5 months from now, but still)

PS. Everything I said is completely true, if you do not believe me, the proof is here. There has been a lot of BM&W on the mag's forums about this fact recently, as you can see. With nobody from the mag's editoring team really caring to respond. All that came from them was "we are sorry for the trouble". Like if it solved anything.

I am not sure what your question is.

Are you looking for a no level cap crack?
Why? There are plenty of levels you can go up and by the time you are near the end you can have almost everything you want anyway.

It is a great RPG (one of my favourite if not the favourite) and I finished it a couple of months ago as a bad mf.

No level cap AND NoCD one that works on English v1.0.7.4., because of reasons mentioned above. :not_ok:

50-level limit runs out for me around halfway through the game. I guess that has something to do with the fact that I'm cleaning every dungeon and completing every quest I can... come on, Level 33 before Isle of Despair.

But, but but you can have plenty of ways of disposing enemies, why do you need no cap limit? Besides, at the end if you want to finish the game in a certain way you are going to need something more than high levels.

Anyway, sorry but I have no idea where to get such a thing, never had any interest in it.

I too level up very quickly since I like doing most missions and quests, and finding treasures and all.

I usualy end up with a human fighter with lots of magic skills.

For the summer I want to finish it with 1) a pure magic user, 2) a pure guns fighter, 3) a bad forgive none half troll :Titan:

It's just annoying that so many, many XP go down the drain... All those character points not gained...
Besides, it would allow wider freedom of development. Just imagine...

Elven female here. With steel-edged sense of humor and very magically powerful.

I agree the max lvl 50 could be accomplished very fast, and leveling is an important part of RPG.

Thanks for any good intentions, found the solution on another board - this program works on most versions of Arcanum (both cracked and not) out there, and allows changing XP levels as you go (but you still need expanded experience chart in xp_level.mes, this you can get from most reliable Arcanum sites). :Brain:

It did not work on the version I had, but with my meager hacking skills I found evidence of some possessed cracker playing "Freddy Kruger with a decompiler" on it.
Got a different one, and then it worked allright. (the bad one had filesize of around 1 MB, the good one was only about 300 K smaller then the original).

What I also did was using a DAT/UNDAT program to unpack the arcanum3.dat and arcanum4.dat (creating backup copies before), replacing the XP_level.mes copies there and repackaging. This was just to ensure that all versions of the file used are copies of the expanded one.

Last time playing I sort of stopped caring for quests after reaching L 50. Time to rock.

BTW: If any of you feel like that, XP_level.mes is a pure text file, and you can alter it as you see fit. For example increasing XP requirements for levelling.
