The best memory for me in this game was saving Paul via the Blow-Up-Paul's-Entire-Apartment-With-LAMS-And-Make-Everyone-Go-Insane method.

Certainly one of the best games I've played, possibly the best RPG-FPS Mix ever. Man, this one kept me playing for weeks.

One of my all-time favourites. I bought it for what amounts to 5£ not too long ago, but it won't run on my current system. Or rather, it runs, but has bouts of 'choppy-ness'. I have the same problem with Unreal Tournament, which makes sense since the games use the game engine if I remember correctly.
I'd very much like to play this game again, does anyone know how to fix this issue? |

First thing to try is compatibility modes.
Second, try disabling the pagefile (helped me get a few games to run, for some reason). |

I believe I've already tried compatability modes, but I suppose I may be wrong... As for the pagefile... I haven't a clue what you're talking about, could you elaborate please?

I really loved Deus Ex and I completed it too. Deus Ex 2 isn't even close that good

Go to Advanced tab, select the "Change" button under Virtual Memory (the third section from the top). Now, select the hard drive where your page file is stored, select "No page file" and click the "Set" button. You'll have to restart your machine for the change to take effect. Changing it back is almost the same procedure, except you choose "Size controlled by system" or "Custom size" (in the latter case, it's best to set both the initial and maximum sizes to the same value, usually around 1,5 times the amount of RAM you've got). Mind you, if you don't have much RAM memory this will make Windows and programs run somewhat slower. |

It's an all right game for me. Though it never consumed me as much as some other games, to me it seems slightly over rated.

It started the fever of "choices" in gaming Tulac, no matter how long before they had been there, Deus Ex was on the first games to make it obvious that one was capable of making extreme choices in an first person game. Whereas games such as System Shock you merely chose your path, not that it would effect the outcome in anyway, while Deus Ex let you choose what sort of character you wanted, how you would behave, and how your actions would effect the outcome.
It's all there, and it was done very subtly. In my opinion it was the finest game to implement all these features without making it obnoxiously evident that they had done so (see the horribly pretentious Indigo Prophecy). |
