Default Found game title: The Colonel's Bequest

I'm looking for the title of a game that I've got limited information on. I never actually played it, but I watched a couple kids play it and I've been curious about it ever since.

It probably came out between 1989 and 1994. I can remember it spooked me quite a bit with it's eerie atmosphere. The main bit I can remember from the game is this:

It was some sort of murder/mystery type game that took place (potentially) in some sort of mansion or estate and I recall there being an emphasis on the time and I kept seeing a large analog clock (possible a clock tower or grandfather clock) on the screen and kept hearing it chime.

It may have been an outright horror game but I remember death being a huge aspect of the game.

Please help me!

Could be. A couple others came to mind as well. Darkseed 1 and Alone in the Dark 1.

I don't recall either having an emphasis on time though. It's the mention of the clock that made me go for Colonel's Bequest.

It *could* also be Cruise For A Corpse if you drop the "mansion". That used a clock to indicate time as well.
