That translates as "thinly veiled flip-flop".

Ironic, isn't it? Especially since much of his 2004 campaign involved him accusing Kerry of being a flip-flop himself.

Yeah, that irritated me actually, because Kerry changed his mind once, after new evidence came to light (which is a good reason to change your mind) and Bush actually changes his mind on lots of things.

Yeah, if you've convicted someone and sentenced him to death, you don't kill him anyway if new evidence proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that he is innocent.

You do if your surname is Bush - who has the time to keep up with that many guys on death row?

Exactly how did a thread about Europe's future turn into another Bush-bash?
Or are we conducting the ever so popular blaim-bush politics?

I'm not surprised that is you that wondered that question. :bye:

Thing is that politics of EU and USA are connected. I don't believe that is in USA interest to have strong Europe. It is easier to work with 20 weaker partners then with one strong one.

To be fair Stroggy has a point - Bush is a pretty soft target for the ol' bashing...

See, I think it would help both USA and Europe if the latter decided to join the former with each country becoming a state. It would do wonders for the economy and individual prosperity.

argh! quick, the americans are coming to annex us! j/k, but i think the president has far far too much power as it is - imagine one man with effective control of an entire hemisphere (well, maybe a demi-hemisphere, but still...) *shudders*

Also, I like the european separation of church and state (I'd like to see more of it here in britain - why are we still indoctrinating our children, albeit without making them recite a pledge with religious content on a daily basis?) while america seems to be moving towards further integration. america needs opposition, even if the war in iraq has shown that there are no consequences whatsoever for her when she ignores it.
