Well... I have this really annoying issue with games like:

- Eric The Unready (I really would like to play it)
- Future Wars - Time Travellers
- King Quest 6
- Crusader: No Regret and No Remorse... I get NO GAME... I tried Dos Box but it is simply too slow
- Settlers 2 Gold
- Syndicate (I also get no sound)
- X-Com: Terror From The Deep

- Anvil of Dawn (In this particular case the game crashes and won't let me go back to my desktop... Restart is needed... DosBox plays it too slow)

In this last cases the games exit after seconds of executing them. For example, Settlers 2 Gold exits after about 20 secs.... It's really annoying..... and sad for me :P I assume of course that is a system problem, cuz a lot of people has XP and plays Settlers 2 Gold perfectly (I'm not jealous I'm not jealous... take a deep breath.... good) My system specs are as follows:

945 Mhz Duron Over to 1.2 Ghz
256 Ram Mb
Windows XP SP2 Professional

Any help?? Any?

Well you can speed it up in dos box just hold alt or ctrl(dont remember wich) and the press f12 for more speed and f11 for less speed. or you could try using vdmsound

Used both, won't work... they exit the same in VdMSound. DoxBox: I raised the processor share to 20000 and still got the same slow speed.

As you have only 1.2 Ghz pc, raising the cpu-cycles speed up to 20000 is a dumb thing to do. It will just slow your pc down a lot, instead of making it faster. You just would need there a faster cpu...

When speeding up games, just open your processor usage screen (CTRL + ALT + DEL) and make sure it does not reach 100%.

For sound problems with syndicate, I am not aware did Admins change it with my SB version of it.

Don't have now much time to check other games, but I'm sure if you solve one of them, you'll be able to play the rest too.

Could you use a shorter name please? It really gets in the way, making the board use smaller squares for your messages which kind of get annoying.

Plus, your name doesn't make sense since you don't have a problem with Abadonware per se, but a problem with your particular machine.

heres the best advice youll get anywhere : Get Win98 , i got 2000 installed recently its crap, hardly any old games work and if they do sound etc wont work ... all the good ones i wanna play anyway, im trying to reinstall it, but i reckon i lost my 98 cd , i understand people probly wanna keep Xp, Nt , 2000 etc but they just suck for gameplay 98 is the king! i was a fool to turn my back on it so if you got 98 your saved... in my case :not_ok: i dont wanna buy it again, maybe i can scrunge a copy from the depths of existence

IMHO: An even better solution: Get a seperate (old, p166 should do it) PC on which you install DOS/Win95/98 for playing odl games and use another PC with a decent OS to work on! (Win 2000 is not crap at all if you've got actual work to do...)
