Install dosbox in c:\users\your_name\ and run it from there. Same location for your virtual C: Or use another partition then C: (if you have one...) ... Or run as 'administrator' (but that's not really the way to do things).

I'm guessing you don't want a permament change, since that would mess with games which require expanded memory.
Type in the following command: ems=false to temporarily disable expanded memory for the current DOSBox session. How to, for really computer unsavy: 1. Download this: http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/att...4&d=1209413074 2. Unpack it into the directory you mounted as your C drive in DOSBox 3. Run DOSBox and mount your C drive. 4. Type in memory and press Enter. 5. You'll see a simple menu for changing EMS/XMS/UMB setting. Change the settings you need to and exit the menu 6. Run the game |

hi.
Firstly, thanks a ton for all your work here. I've followed your tutorial, and suprised I managed to get through it, thanks. Trouble is, I must be missing something. I have downloaded ascendancy, which I have saved in c - oldgames - ascendancy. It shows up in the split screen bit, on the left. I can't work out how I'm supposed to actually run it. I have made all the alterations to the bosbox script so it's in fullscreen etc etc. what exactly do I type where it says "c:\>"? Do I double click on the game first? Sorry to be a PITA |

With Norton Commander, you can double-click directories to open them and executables to run them (that's the whole point of having it installed, actually).
So double-click that ASCEND~1, then a file named ascend.exe in the listing that will open aaand... that's it. |
