I have. well mabe not a table... our schools laser could only cut thin paper. when it was working at all.
BTW by saying that tere is no light do you mean it's dark? (and I wouldn't be able to get any reflections in the mirror)

I don't know! I'm not really in a "thinking" mood right now.

Actually, if you take the mirrors and hold them apart parallel to each other, a beam of light is passing infinitely fast between them. If you slowly move the parrallell mirrors down the table, within 20 billion years or so you would have cut the table with the photon beam, like so:

m..........{llllllllllllllllllll}.........m
l l
l l
l l
l l
m= mirror
.....= light beam

I read a book about relativity that talked about this

edit: dang, my pic got screwed up. whatever, you get the idea

I understand what youre trying. won't work. because you need a constant ligt source to be place where your table is right now. otherwise the light beam will weaken and won't acamulte enough energy to cut wood.
(because your beams angle won't be 0 degrees when you begin, and as you know it will increase geometricaly from there)

I bla bla bla there)
but that isn't absurd.

by the way, I still don't see why you can't cut a table with a piece of mirror.

you could, I guess..but it would really dull out the broken mirror piece (there is only one mirror btw, not two Indi)

You need something serrated, but because I doubt someone would get this exact wording, I'll give it to a1s, because he was the closest at the beginning.

The correct answer actually goes something like this:

"I look in the mirror and see what I saw, then I take that saw and cut the table in two. Because two halves make a hole, I climb out through the hole to freedom"

Take it away a1s!

ok, here's my riddle:
This guy living on the 20th floor in an apartment building got up early each morning to go to work in a downtown store. He always went into the elevator on the 20th floor and rode down to the entrance (1st floor). When he came home he usualy rode the elevator from the entrance and up to the 8th floor. He walked out of the elevator and walked the stairs up to his apartment on the 20th floor.

Why don't he take the elevator all the way up to his apartment?
