Default Escaping from the maze

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a game that I've only played a demo of long ago.

In the demo (that was crashing all the time by the way) you played a male character that was running from something (antagonist) through hedge maze/labyrinth. Each maze fragment was a separate screen (screen would change after the hero would move to the edge of it), where you had to make decision where your character should go (you had to press direction button).

If you wouldn't pick a direction quickly enough, or you'd chose a wrong direction, the character would die, quite often in a "funny" way - for example eaten by a man eating plant, dissolved in acid.

The main hero might have been a pirate, but I am not sure about it.

I've played the game in the '90s or early 2000s

What computer did it run on?
- IBM 486DX 2, 66

What operating system did the computer run?
- It was either DOS or Windows 3.11

What were the graphics like?
Looked illustrated I think, with nice animations

What was the gameplay like?
- Arcade/Adventure

Which perspective were you given there?
- Fixed camera for each screen, isometric view

Cheers!
