As far as I know, Bethesda's games that are released to the public as freeware must remain on their site. Other download sources are simply illegal.

I would hate for people not to be able to play such an excellent game.

I don't quite understand what you are saying. As Sarin said, the game -is- out there, ready to be downloaded and I'm pretty sure Beth got some several thousands of downloads already. I agree in one thing, though. Abandonia -could- write a review of Daggerfall (but I could swear there was one once) and link the download straight to Beth's page, just to let people know that the second part of The Elder Scrolls can now, once again, be obtained legally (and free).

Hey mate, no apologies needed! That's just what I heard. Bethesda is protecting their old games as if they were golden eggs. But, well... their games are quite far from that.
