Some people might remember me asking the same question some months ago... Well, guess what... I still don't have a good free antivirus in my system!

The best bet I got thus far is Avast... But man, this antivirus is not only cumbersome (who want 6 resident shields anyways?), it's also a ressource hog.

Do anybody have some suggestion about good and free antivirus?

It's not exactly free, though, is it?

Yes, you can download the firewall, which is good enough.

The first step to virus protection is not to get any viruses on your pc.

Micro Antivirus is free version of Norton, it works fine. Mc Afee's Virus scan is also good.

Nevermind, you have to buy it, it was free a few years ago though..

AntiVir personal edition is free. You do need to upgrade it manually every so often but that is not too much of a hastle.

I second The Niles. Antivir is an excellent personal anti virus for free. I use it for years now and I never had any problems with it. 5/5 stars!

Tried it, now using Norton Antivirus 2005. It's better.
