So, this ol' piece of junk is up, running and seemingly rather well (BSOD's once or twice per day = Windows standard). However, I need to test if it can function in a stable way for about 24 hours at 75-90% CPU/RAM usage.

Any advice on what programs can be used for the purpose of such test?

i like to use a 3d game running to test for stability. it uses all the bits i want to test, and it tests them damn hard!

If it is an old pc, you probably won' t be able to run 3d games. i don' t know if you are addicted to this kind of programs, so i' m almost affraid of sugesting them; however they seam to take enough cpu and memory usage when the computer is idle (around 90%). i' m talking about these programs like UD - for cancer research, or BOINC - used by the guys of SETI.

A good testing tool for this is Winstress or SiSoft Sandra, both are good total windwos stress tests.

Sandra can be downloaded from www.sisoft.co.uk

I don't think you can legally donwload Winstress, but I have it somewere so I could mail it to you.
