Try DOSBox rather than the command prompt - it's an emulator rather than the crappy effort in windows.

I am having a problem running this game. My compy locks up and makes a very annoying noise everytime I arrive at the screen with the compus and the text: "Klick north twice by razor/(somenameidon'tremember)." I tried running this game from both dos and widows. I have also tried klicking north twice on my keyboard. I am using windows 98 on an older computer that sucks to the extreme. Could someone please give me some suggestions as to what I can do to get this program to work?
I also got that problem. In fact you need to launch the game in a dos session with a bootdisk. You just have to create a bootdisk without forgetting to specify your mouse driver. In fact, it's not suitable to launch The Horde in a dos session from Windows 98. It's due to that in some cases when you launch a dos session from Windows 98, the mouse driver is not loaded (in RAM). I got that problem with The Horde and Under a Killing Moon.
I hope it will work with a bootdisk and you finally you enjoy that hit :-)

Well, if you were born running dos like I was, dox box was easy. Just had to remember to mount was different. Dox box worked fine with "The Horde" after you overclocked it to 20000. This is by far my most favorite game! I remember when I first got it. My dad worked at a Comp USA and got it for $1 in the early 90's. Dox box works fine! I use it more often then the regular dos itself. I'm glad I finally found a free copy.

How the heck do you install this thing? The program just makes the computer (windows xp) give a little popup talking about reducing virtual memory and crashes. After that it just crashes... unless i try to deleate it in which case it says it's in use. I also tried downloading it from the underdogs however the version they have there requires one to copy it to 6 floppys and then run it from there... And my computer dosen't have a floppy drive.

Any help would be much apriceated... Thanks!
