Default How bout making all these games playable IN a browser?

Hi,
I was just wondering - with the latest web tech like WebAssembly, it is surely now possible to run all the games here right IN a browser - right? So - why don't you guys do that then? That way we don't have to DOWNLOAD them and deal with all kindsa crap, especially those of us who are on Linux.

Get it done guys
Cheers.

Haha.
Good idea, but someone else did it already:

Jason Scott, to be exact. Based on eXoDOS.

OK, but why not do it on THIS site? That one is archive.org, where is the actual site? Never heard of it before. Anyway, DOS is not enough, Windows games need to be done too. 'many of them as possible And this one badly needs a redesign.

Get to it, get to it
Cheers.

It needs _enormous_ amount of work, @newguy. You simply have no idea. Archive.org basically stole eXoDOS (and when faced with it, admit that eXoDOS was it's base), and while it's _mostly_ works, anything more complicated than "1CD with soundblaster" didn't came through. Windows even worse, as it needs too much tinkering. Look on GOG - they literally make money exactly by making old games playable - and still they cover 5% of old games at max. Do you really think that half-dead site with several active members, who goes here for fun, can do the trick?

You could technically setup a virtual desktop environment installing Windows XP or Win98 and its games and use some sort of remote desktop access to play games. I think this is the closest we can get to "old games playable in a browser". And probably this is the best way to do it moving forward.

Google Stadia already uses streaming technology, and I remember Gaikai used to be a very strong precursor (until Sony killed it off, it turns out).

Also Microsoft is toying with the idea of virtual PCs and Xbox Game Pass now allows you to stream games too. I can easily see GOG.com doing the same, especially since most old games don't need any reasonable hardware to run, the only bottleneck being bandwidth.

Everything DOS based can be made playable in browser via JS-DOS. It has a few idiosyncrasies (like simple core giving better performance than normal/auto), hopefully to be fixed in v7.x, but otherwise it's pretty robust.
