I think Guesst has a point here, although I have no idea whether it's worth the work necessary to change it.

Boy, that was such a long time ago. I hardly ever remove smileys from my quotes anymore. For you I'll make an exception.

The crusade is alive and well, but I'm thinking of starting another one. The "Remember the 'R' in youR crusade."

And SupSuper pointed out how little work it would require.

How about the "alot" is not a word campaign?

Na. I'd prefer the "Add 'alot' to the dictionary."

I think one would need to ask the following:

How many visit AB from a school or workplace VS how many visit from their homes.

I would assume more people visit from their homes - and as such the majority would like to have a default "remember me".

At least that is what I would guess.

Ah, but those who use it only need do so once, whereas those who don't need to uncheck it EVERY TIME as it stands.

Thank you BotB, you've hit the nail on the head. Tom, no offense, but your baseless assumptions, aside from being unsturdy as arguements, don't address the real, quantifiable issue.

It's a question of frequency. Option 1, as it stands. Those who visit the boards from home don't have to click anything off. Those visit the board from a public computer have to click every stinking time, and if they forget a time or two there's computers out there with their private (albiet frivolous) account infomation laid to bare. In total we're talking about lotsa clicks for option 1. Option 2, what I suggest. Those who visit from home have to make that click once. Those visit from public never have to click anything. Total clicks, one. one < lotsa by lotsa-1.

Plus the fact that for some reason I have to log in twice from my school computer meaning I have to click that off double each time. It's annoying.

Just by the by, thank God for "remember me," because I have the memory of a fish, and after I make one full circle of the fish-bowl I usually forget my dang password...

Guesst has a good point there too
