I have a problem. Its my PC.

My PC is true antigue: a 90 mhz pentium, equipped with Compaq monitor, mouse with short cord, Ancient IBM keyboard (with windows buttons) very old phone modem and a broken printer.

No graphics card, no speakers (I use headphones) and both Cd-Drive & Disk drive are broken.

I got this computer at the year 2000 and i still use it!

Do I need a new PC? Hell yeah! But I cant get one because of my parents.

My mom (the second person who uses the computer) is happy with this antique piece of junk, so she thinks we dont need a new one.

Sure. I could buy a new computer myself, but i (always) dont have any money.

So the question is: How can I make my parents buy me a new computer?

Well, when I wanted a new computer, I told my parents I'd need it for school. Which was, after all, true. I convinced them that with 6 persons in our household using a single computer, we were bound to get into trouble once one of us has to write a paper or things like that. And because I used the PC the most, it was reasonable to get me my own computer.

Grinder's idea is good k:

But if it doesn't work, I suggest to hypnotize your parents ...

Well you might have your PC from the year 2000 but even then it was out dated (I had a p133 from '97), so I am sure that you can buy a used PC which sould be substiantialy stronger than the one you have quite cheaply...

Get a job, save the money instead of spening it, and buy it..

I saved my allowance when i was 9 for a long time to buy my first computer, Amiga 500..
When it was starting to get outdated, i started working during the summer-leave, sorting strawberries, and saved up some 1200€ and bought my first 486.

When i needed a new, i started saving again.....

Nothing comes for free. It's better to learn the value of money early and feel the satisfaction that YOU bought this, and noone can take it away from you.

eBay. 30 Bucks will get you a nice Pentium 266 for starters. But try convincing your parents first. Never give up. If you do give up, look on eBay. By the way, how old are you?

According to his profile (not hard to check...), 15. I'm with Grinder here - you could get something significantly better for very little money second hand. If you get another PC your mum can always keep the existing one - it'll be easier for her to use it if you're not on there all the time
