If I try to start wolf.exe, it just says "error initializing sound driver" and dies, w.exe freezes when i click on the "start simulation" button in the simulation menu. I tried Win 95, pure DOS+the abandonia bootdisk, none of them improves anything. My computer is a Pentium MMX166 ith 96 MB of RAM and an ELSA Winner 1000 with 2 MB of VRAM.
Is it possible to play wolf on Win 95 or on a Pentium, or do I need DOS and/or a 486?

Try copying it off the floppy again. Or if you downloaded it, redownload and unzip. If that doesn't work reboot in DOS mode and attempt to run it. My PC has lower system specs than yours and it works right.

Hi guys...
I actually managed to find a Wolfenstein 3D version that works in windows XP... and it plays sound proper and all. If you want then I can upload it to my website and post the link, but then I would rather supply it to Abandonia so they can use it and generate traffic.

Edit: Well don't I feel dumb Will download WOLF and see what I can come up with of troubleshooting ways

All right... here's the cause of your problems.
If you haven't run setup.exe yet then you should and either configure sound to match your sound card or select no sound.
I did a quickie and set it up with no sound and it started with no problems. So there is nothing wrong except for the fact that it might be requiring dos drivers of your soundcard.
But there you are... that's the solution in a nutshell mate.

I know there's a problem where only one soundcard works. I'm not sure which, Maybe Adlib works (or its the only one that dosen't...)
