open dosbox.conf
look for the sensivity setting
increase it to 300 %

(and while in game be sure to press ctrl-f12 a few times)

I didn't know I could do that. I am playing Callahan's Crosstime Saloon with DOSBox (increase cycles to 8000). The game runs slowly, and the mouse seems to lose its sensitiveness quite often. Although I can still bear with the speed, I feel rather frustrated with clicking on items again and again before getting the action done.

I'm going to try this suggestion. I'll increase the mouse sensitivity setting to 300% k:

I'm having a simular problem. I tried altering the sensitivity of the mouse, which did indeed speed up my cursor, but the problem is occuring with the interacting with the game.

The game is running at pretty much the right speed, but when i right click and drag to move the screen, or when I am hovering over peices of land to see what size buildings i may build, it slows terribly, making it mostly unplayable. I scrolled with the keyboard, and that is slow too. Odd indeed.

Similar problem occured to me once but I was seriously UNDERclocking my DOSBox to play an old Lemmings game.

Are you sure you can't improve the performance by increasing the cycles?
