We are trying to host a server for us abandonians to play on, but when me and Danny252 tested, I could not see the server he made. Neither could the people on IRC. The following are his settings:
I made a server with the exact same settings and everything went just fine (I could play on it; Danny could too), but my computer is not good enough to host. Any ideeas on what to do to see Danny's server ? |

My first thought is a problem with a Firewall?

That was my first thought also, so Danny disabled the firewall before making the server.
Also I must say that when I made the server Danny252 could see, my firewall was on. Too bad my computer is :not_ok: |

and with ZoneAlarm off, it should work. I believe this has happened before. Maybe something to do with my router? I had to mess around this morning to get a game to connect by opening a few ports.

Maybe. Can't you close them again ? If we could know what ports Tribes requires, you could open them and maybe then your server could be seen. (And yes, this has happened before, when I told you to make a game with bots but I couldn't see it; We joined after that a 8 people server; Remember ?)

Is it possible that one of your internet connections are from a LAN? Example, one computer is hooked up with the Cable/modem, and all the other PCs are connected to the internet via wireless LAN.
If that's the case, many times it's impossible for you to make a game that people will be able to see on the server list. And sometimes you can't even join games on certain uh, games.

I found what ports Tribes requires forwarded and sent a PM to Danny. Let's hope this will fix the problem.

Hope it does work.
I tried it with the same settings and it worked fine. But my PC is probably worse than yours, Abi. |

Worse then a PII ? It can't be. I managed to play with bots (5 bots) on a map. My computer blocked 1 second every 10 seconds, if you know what I mean :P
At least I managed Friday to play with Danny two hours while we were having a break. My ping :w00t: was 60 and his was 150. Shouldn't my ping be 0 if I hosted the game ? Ah, well. Let's wait until Danny comes online. I'm still doing my homework, but I'll be free in 30 mins. |

Yo. Im here.
Im gonna try opening some ports tribes says it needs. I use a LAN to connect both computers together and to the internet, but I can host other games, so messing around with the router is worth a try.
